Jun 7 Annual Snapping Turtle Walk
Staff members of National Audubon Society’s Constitution Marsh Sanctuary will provide an educational program on one of Boscobel’s most fascinating natural events. In early-to-mid June, female snapping turtles crawl up the steep bank from their habitat in Constitution Marsh to lay their eggs. The program will feature live turtles from the marsh, after which staff members will lead a walk around the grounds in search of female turtles. This program is held rain or shine. Coffee, juice and doughnuts will be served beginning at 7:00 a.m. The program will begin promptly at 7:30 a.m. Adults: $12 Children (12 and under): $8 www.boscobel.org

The Jazz Knights Perform a Tribute to
Buddy Rich and The Maynard Ferguson Legacy
The West Point Band’s Music Under the Stars Series will continue on Sunday, August 24 at 7:30 p.m. at West Point’s Trophy Point Amphitheatre.  The Jazz Knights will pay tribute to two legends: Drummer Buddy Rich and trumpeter Maynard Ferguson.  This performance will feature compositions and arrangements written for and performed by The Buddy Rich Band such as Love for Sale, Groovin Hard, and Big Swing Face.  Also being peformed are several arrangements written for Maynard over the course of his illustrious career by such rrangers/composers as Michael Abene, Bill Holman, and Don Sebesky to include Green Dolphin Street, Country Boy, and Danny Boy.  As always, this performance is free and open to the public.

The West Point Concert Band and Jazz Knights will present the final “Music Under the Stars” concert at Trophy Point Amphitheatre, featuring guest vocalists Matt and Christina Ashford. The concert will conclude with the band’s performance of Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture complete with cannon and fireworks.  The performance will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 30th with the Jazz Knights. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be on Sunday, August 31st.  The concert is free and open to the public.
